Purpose of the Role

The Project Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and efficient
transportation services to support program activities. This role ensures staff,
beneficiaries, and goods are transported securely while maintaining vehicles in good
working condition and adhering to organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

      • Transportation services: Safely transport staff, visitors, and program
        materials to designated locations
      • Vehicle maintenance: Conduct routine checks, schedule servicing,
        cleanliness and ensure vehicles are in optimal condition.
      • Logbook management: Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel
        consumption, and service history.
      • Documentation compliance: Ensure documents such as insurance,
        tax, and other required papers are valid and up to date
      • Safety compliance: Adhere to traffic laws, organizational safety
        standards, and defensive driving practices
      • Support to logistics: Assist with delivery of supplies, equipment, and
        documents as required.
      • Emergency response: Provide immediate support in case of accidents
        or breakdowns, ensuring passenger safety.
      • Community relations: Represent the organization professionally when
        interacting with local communities and stakeholders.

Qualifications and Competencies

      • Education: Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
      • Licensing: Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
      • Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional driving experience,
        preferably with NGOs or development projects.
      • Technical skills: Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and ability to
        perform minor repairs.
      • Soft skills: Reliability, punctuality, communication skills, and ability to
        work with diverse teams.
      • Defensive driving: Ability to anticipate and prevent risks on the road.
      • Time management: Efficiently plan routes and schedules to meet
        project needs.
      • Integrity: Uphold organizational values and maintain confidentiality.
      • Flexibility: Willingness to work irregular hours and travel to remote
        areas.
